PROJECT
FINISHED
VVSDUC is the coordinator of the project. The leader of the project group has many years of experience in working at the vocational school. She used to administer IVT mobility projects. At the moment she works at VSI, but the acquired knowledge, experience and competence while working at the vocational school does not allow her to step aside. Understanding the importance of students’ mobility abroad, she prepared this project together with the partners.
The goal of the project is to implement and deepen the practical knowledge and professional competences acquired by students at the vocational school.
The partners of the project are chosen to be Lithuanian vocational schools suffering from “international project exclusion” due to the size of the organization, place or lack of experience. Such schools are Druskininkai craft school, Smalininkai technology and business school and Simnas agricultural school. Marijampole PRC, having great experience in participating in international projects was also invited to be a partner. This will add professionalism to the project activities and will ensure reaching quality results. During the process of cooperation the partners of the project will seek the following goals:
1.To create optimal conditions for students’ professional and geographical mobility, encouraging personal development in waitresses, cooks, and hotel administrators’, agricultural workers spheres.
2. To raise students’ qualifications by presenting to them the quality, contents and meaning of the term ” service staff”, introduce the innovations and job specifics by cooperating with the partners abroad.
3. To train students’ abilities to adapt to changing labour market by developing their practical skills, foreign language knowledge and by connecting their theoretical knowledge to practice to seek better professional adaptation.
All the students in vocational schools aim to have a quality practice. All the teachers aim to provide quality competences and deeper skills during the practice. All the schools aim to become members of international society, and to receive added European value in their teaching programs through students’ mobility, to increase school’s quality and prestige by becoming active member of international project activities.
The following problems will be solved by the project activities: vocational schools are in small towns and it is difficult to find the suitable place for students’ practice there. The mobility project solves this problem partly, by sending the students to have their practice abroad. The receiving organizations have gained trust and have already proven to be able to provide the quality place for the students’ practice. The problem is that students in vocational schools have very poor skills in everyday and professional English language. During the mobility period students will have to communicate in English. This will improve their English language skills.
Vocational schools feel like outsiders in the international projects activities. The project will enable school to open for the “internationalism”, to feel one team with the other participants of the consortium, and to gain experience not only from the partners abroad, but also from each other as well.
The project will start in November 2014. Mobility will take place in April-June. Starting project activities in November allows planning all the project preparatory activities: presenting information, preparing and checking the knowledge of English language, dissemination. In this case the students will be well prepared for the mobility. Two mobilities are foreseen: to Turkey and Iceland. The receiving partners are experienced in Leonardo da Vinci activities, they clearly understand and fulfil all the requirements of the program and fulfill the activities foreseen in the project agreement.
In the professional sphere, the practice abroad widens students’ abilities, develop their creativity, independence, encourage using innovations at work and mold the term of the work itself. Especially good results are expected from the agricultural students practice in Iceland. After returning from the practice the students will use the acquired professional knowledge and competences during their apprenticeship, their qualification exams and during their later work at Lithuanian companies.
The expected result from the project is students’ practical, cultural and language skills received while working in abroad company. During the practice abroad it is important for the students not only to use their competences, but also to acquire the new ones. The results will be evaluated by issuing Europass and the certificate provided by the receiving organisation after evaluating the practice.
