PRÁCTICAS EN PEDAGOGÍA WALDORF
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Rudolf Steiner Association has as its aim, as the Association Articles state, the care of adults with learning disabilities. It has been carrying out this activity since the year 1980 in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, currently offering the services of Occupational Centre and Residential Centre. The Occupational Centre, called Taller Rafael, has 40 places for adults with learning disabilities between the ages of 18 and 64 years old. It has three artisan workshops: book binding and notebook making, candle making and a weavery. In addition there are different therapeutic activities (voice work, theatre, dance, and painting), walking, discussion groups, self-advocacy groups and others. The supported living houses, called Casa Rafael and Casa del Sol, have a capacity for 11 and 8 places respectively. Here the activities which are carried out with the people with learning disabilities are those related to day to day life, leisure and free time activities, as well as different therapeutic activities. The Project “Work Placement in Waldorf Education” has been carried out in the Supported Living Houses “Casa Rafael” and “Casa del Sol” and in the Occupational Centre “Taller Rafael” for a period of 12 months (from the 1st of September 2014 to the 31st of August 2015). Four volunteers have participated; one from Austria, one from Germany and two from France. A general outline of the work they have done is to support and accompany the professionals in their daily activity with the adults with learning disabilities, as well as fomenting little by little a European awareness in the participants through the multicultural nature of the project itself.
