PROJECT
FINISHED
The main reason why our centre has applied for this Project is to motivate our Vocational students to acquire new professional skills that will assist their personal and professional development. We think that this working experience is an added value and will improve their linguistic competence as well as it will help them integrate in the labour world.
We live in a changing society where business and companies have to adequate their products and services to the new market demands. With this philosophy of change, companies require students who, as well as being properly qualified, are also capable of adapting themselves to new situations, such as moving to another country if necessary, without a foreign language being a handicap.
Companies within our area of range must know that we prepare students in order to have these skills, so these companies can collaborate with us in this project by putting us in contact with subsidiary European firms. Thus, the relationship between schools and companies will be real and we will be able to provide companies with students who respond to market expectations.
These are the reasons why our project focuses on students staying in a foreign country where they will perform their training period in a foreign company. The participants will be students who want to complete their degree after their training period in a foreign country, as well as those who, although already qualified, want to expand their professional experience in the fields studied in our centre, including Administration Management, Automatic and Electronic Installations, Electromechanical Servicing and Car Bodywork.
In this project we have anticipated 10 stays to be carried out within the two-year project completion period. The two sites chosen for the performance of these on-the-job training units are Lavelanet (France) and Brescia (Italy). All the stays will take place from March to June with a total duration of 11 weeks.
The activities to be accomplished at the working sites are detailed in Annex IV (Educational Annex), which is part of the Educational and Quality Commitment signed with the host company.
At the end of the Training Units the student’s activities will be assessed and marked as PASS or FAIL in compliance with Annex V (Assessment Annex). All students will also receive a company certificate where the training period and the acquired professional skills must be stated.
The follow-up of the Training Units will be done by the student tutors via email. Our intermediate partners, Lycée des Métiers Joseph- Marie Jacquard in Lavelanet (France) and Tempo Libero in Brescia (Italy), will do the follow-up at the working sites, contacting the companies by phone in order to learn about student development and solve any potential problems.
With this experience, we intend our students to improve the language of the host country and to acquire a certain degree of autonomy, as they find themselves away from their families and educational centre; thus encouraging their ability to adapt themselves to a different cultural background. We would like surrounding companies to view our centre as a supporting institution which can provide them and their subsidiary companies with qualified trainee students. All of which would open new ways in our professional relationship, hence obtaining recognition of our educational job from students, families and companies.
