Pracownia wolontariatu. Polsko - gruziński transfer doświadczeń pracy z młodzieżą metodą wolontariatu.
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Mobility project for youth workers enables to develop skills, raise qualifications and broaden horizons of people working with youth in Georgia within non-governmental organisations. The main priority of those organisations is to develop voluntary service, create its positive image and encourage young people to get involved in volunteering.During eight days, three representatives of the Georgian partner organisation will observe initiatives undertaken by the Volunteer Centre Association in Lublin. They will analyse the structure of Association, principles of its functioning and methods applied while working with youth leaders. They will get to know eleven permanent programmes conducted by the Volunteer Centre Association which are based on youth activity, and they will get involved into four of them (programme helping young people that came into conflict with the law and are currently in the Juvenile Centre, programme helping children and adolescents from neglected districts of Lublin, programme in aid of refugees and programme supporting migrants in the region of Lublin). Moreover, they will participate in one of the cultural meetings that are regularly organised by the Volunteer Centre. The main theme discussed during the meeting will be the culture of Georgia. Participants of the project will observe everyday actions of the Volunteer Centre’s workers, methods of voluntary service management and methods of management of young coordinators and volunteers involved into initiatives of the organisation. In order to facilitate understanding of some mechanisms, the theme meetings with the Polish staff of the Association will be also organised. The Georgian participants will discover the functioning of the programmes “from the inside” as they will participate in their actions. Furthermore, they will have a chance to share their skills and experience with the volunteers. The project’s main objective is to increase the level of key competences and skills of the Georgians working with youth, including young people with fewer opportunities, and of those working within the intercultural dialogue, social integration and solidarity. Due to a closer cooperation between organisations working with youth in Poland and Georgia, the project will enhance the improvement of the work quality for young people (including young volunteers). The described practise within the programmes will enable youth workers to determine their own point of view and to learn working methods that will help young people to understand the social, linguistic and cultural diversity and sensitise them to this diversity. The youth workers themselves will get more sensitive on the social problems present in their environment and will gain skills essential to respond to needs of disfavoured persons. For the project participants it will be a chance for their professional improvement and career development. As the project may provoke the positive change of the participants’ point of view and opinion on the voluntary service, it may contribute in the longer term to changes in the point of view of Georgian young people, volunteers and their learners.
