The PORTPROFIS project will develop a range of specialist Portuguese language tools for use particularly with SMEs and those considering establishing a new business.The project will work in four primary development areas, to comprise; development of technical terminology (banking, commercial, financial), development of actual language development texts, production of background materials regarding the Portuguese language (history, geography, etc.) and construction of an electronic dictionary (to comprise an orthographic corrector/language support tool). The lexicon of terminology will be developed initially in Portuguese and then translated to other partner languages (EN, FR, ES & DE).Particular focus will be paid to actual use of the language in the commercial field, particularly within SMEs, to support the technical and professional language development of both managers and staff.Beyond the initial target group, it is expected that the tools developed will be further able to be used with those migrating to Portugal wishing to enter the workforce or establish their own business.The tools themselves will be produced both on CD-Rom and via a dedicated project website and will be promoted across the partner countries through specialist language fairs and exhibitions, through awareness raising with relevant training bodies and through electronic (internet) linking to relevant national bodies.
