Youth Centre Metsäkartano hosts three weeks long group EVS project. The main theme of the project is international education. Volunteers main task is to organise an international event for the local students. Since the year 2007 Metsäkartano has organised an international day, called Poke the Globe! The day will gathers together approximately 250 students from the regions of North Savo and North Karelia. The aim of the ¨short term project is to inform local youth about different international possibilities and other cultures and encourage them to make initiatives in their local communities. Main focus is on EVS programme. International volunteers are instructing different themed workshops and touring around the local schools by presenting their cultures for the Finnish youth. During the group EVS project, volunteers will visit local schools and instruct “international hours” for the pupils. Volunteers will also work outdoors in the nature and they get too know how Finnish youth centre functions. Total amount of volunteers is 14. Volunteers are sent from Germany, Lebanon, Jordan, Portugal, Belarus, Spain and Greece.
