PROJECT
FINISHED
The project “In Gaudi’s Footsteps” is to take place, as its name suggests, in Barcelona, Spain. The city is renowned for the original buildings designed by the aforementioned architect, and also for its Gothic architecture, as well as modern buildings. The choice of where to send our students to complete their internship was therefore an easy one. The project aims to provide the students with an opportunity to attain practical experience in an attractive and architecturally distinct environment and to further develop their skills necessary for working in construction. The participants will do some basic construction work, learn how to organize their work, and adopt certain work habits. An interesting benefit is that they will also expand their knowledge in regards to solar power, while designing models of solar panel placement and considering the uses of solar energy for water heating and for generating electricity. The internship will be conducted in English. The project will begin on 1 September 2016 and conclude on 31 August 2017. The main activity consists of an internship abroad for 15 students accompanied by one supervisor. It is scheduled to take place over the period of two weeks in April (departing on Sunday and returning on Saturday). Our main partner is IES Consulting, an organization that will arrange the individual internships for our students in the individual construction companies where they will work. They will also arrange accommodation and meals for our students, and participate in the evaluation and monitoring of the project, as well as help the participants with getting around the city. They will also organize some shared cultural activities and other additional programme. Our school will arrange transport, the selection of the participants, and the presence of a supervisor. We will be responsible for the management of the whole project, the related paperwork, as well as the project finances and the final account. The project has been prepared in accordance with the ECVET system, therefore we expect to sign all obligatory documents; we have already prepared the unit of learning and signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Successful participants will be awarded the Europass Mobility certificate the the conclusion of their internship. The main impact of the project on the target group is related especially to practical experience. The students will try the individual tasks involved in construction with regard to the methods and procedures used in Spain. The entire project team will be able to gain experience which will be utilized in further activities and international cooperation. By giving our students the opportunity to complete an internship abroad our school’s publicity will increase and we will be able to offer more attractive study programmes to prospective students.
