The project Play Works! will be unwinding as part of the Youth Aid Association Center - Adventure Playground programme. The playground is the first of its kind in the East European surrounding. It is a safe area for a child's play and creativity, a sociable area where parents get information and answers about upbriging , an area where children and the youth can fall back on if they need help in stricken situations. It is also a space, which enables and encourages the local community to co-create quallity conditions for a better life. Three times per week the proffesional staff and volunteers co-create, together with children and the youth, the programme of the playground. The children and the youth have the opportunity to develop creativity, independence and resposibility, train practical and social skills and discover the rich natural surrounding. With the activities of the programme Play Works! we like to promote the expansion of the Playwork method work and encourage the usage of play in everyday life and in youth work. Mostly we want to enrich the local community with international dimension. The Play Works! activities are learning to collaborate with the programme Adventure Playground, preparing promotional material about play, the playground and the youth mobility. We will host two EVS volunteers in this project, a girl from Serbia and a boy from Belarus. The volunteers are 27 and 21 years old and are interested in working with children and the youth. They will collaborate in individual activities on the Adventure Playground programme, get to know the playwork method on which the playground works and prepare their own projects with the support of the mentor and other playground workers. We will host the volunteers for 6 and 8 months. We expect that the volunteers will gain a lot of new knowledge in the field of communication, social interaction and information technology. They will also develop their own creativity, independence and resposibility. They will learn a lot new things on this project and we will encourage them to pass this knowledge on to their home surrounding. Both of the volunteers will collaborate on the promotion of the youth mobility. They will do so alone with their presence on the playground, where they will be in contact with more then 50 children and youth daily. The project of the European Voluntary Service - Play Works! will be a significant contribution to the quality of life of the local community population, who are a great part of the Adventure Playground work.
