Planning and Implementing a Non-Revenue Water Reduction Strategy Improves the Performance of Water Supply and Distribution Systems

The PROWAT project aims at developing new methods and techniques of the water-management-system, including strategy development to reduce the non-revenue water as well as the application of new systems in the design of drinking water network distribution system preventing loss of water by leakages. More specifically, the project will develop a set of training modules and software tool that can be used to enhance the capacities of employees in the sector as well as in the training at Vocational and training organisations, Technical Universities and in the relevant departments of the Public & Governmental Organisations and Municipalities. The PROWAT group represents a multi-player partnership involving engineering & construction companies including small medium-sized enterprises; research, vocational and technical schools having social partners and local and regional authorities. The project will introduce new strategies, innovative training programmes and working methods on Water-System management enabling technicians, municipalities and other producers to work more effective and efficient. The project intends to widely disseminate the results of the project in such a way that they are easily to integrate in the different training systems and will enhance the competencies of the direct end users of the training such as engineers and higher and middle level technicians as well as trainers.
