PIP - A project to train peer educators to deliver personal development skills to disadvantaged target groups to support them in the transition from training to employment
The purpose of the PIP project is to provide a flexible and cost effective means of delivering personal development, particularly employability skills, to people at a greatest distance from the labour market. Despite having the necessary vocational skills or experience, they experience great difficulty maintaining placements in training or employment due to a severe lack of understanding of the generic and underlying skills required to sustain training or employment. The use of Peer Educators is based on the success of using them within the Me Myself I project (www.peermentor.bdf.es) to put messages across which would be unlikely to be accepted if given by “professionals” such as teachers, social workers, probation officers.
