Background of the projectConsidering the current political circumstances, the project PHYSIS wants to encourage young people to position themselves through creative working on constructing Europe in the global changing. The project sets the aspects of science and art in context to an ecological nature aesthetic and regarding to new technologies and the handling of resources.PHYSIS is seeking to contribute to the establishment of creative networking in the international dialogue.In this context art is taking over an important position: it is supporting social competence, cognitive flexibility, is opening new option- and activity spaces, is furthering tolerance, freedom and plurality of society. Hence art is enabeling freedom opposite to functional compulsions.As a continuum of PHYSIS I/II/III/IV the artistic discourse is about complex coherences with high social relevance in the course of globalization.Knowledge society, information society, the intensivation of communication flows and the increasing symbolicism of the world are needing new structures and spaces of sensual perception. Those factors are ensuring a process of slowing down to give future generations a humane living.Aristotle is demanding his purchaser to build houses just like Physis would do, if she would grow houses. Peter Sloterdijk is emphasizing that „...the house is characterized by artificiality and is supposed to be at the same time that artificiality that is continuing to appear in the voice of nature.“ This could be understood as a conceptual formulation, on how humanity and particularly the young generation wants to establish in their house and especially the European house.In August 2016 the trilateral youth meeting with 38 participants from Germany, Italy and Greece is going to proceed in Berlin. Topic of this years PHYSIS edition in Berlin will be „Vision and Illusion.“ In view of increasing conflicts in context to environmental refugees, war refugees, economical refugees, European crisis and political flows to the right, the youth meeting will be intesively concerned with the history of the city aswell as with its current culture. Visions, dreams, nightmares, desires, hopes and illsusions are visible in Berlins townscape in the history and now.The argumentation with history and culture of Berlin will be done process-oriented by nonformal learning, peer learning with the aspect of science and art – PHYSIS is art – a field of open praxis-taking scientific disciplines into account. Poetical, creative and scientific aspects can be chosen freely by every participant or by working groups. The deliverables of all participants will be presented to public.
