PESCALEX - 7 Language Preparatory Online Self-Tuition & Content Integrated Language Learning Modules for Aquaculture - Excellence in Quality Assurance for Fish Health Management
The project PESCALEX aims at creating CLIL (content and language integrated learning) courses in fish health/disease. Target languages are EL, ES, EN, FR, PL, NO. The project targets areas where aquaculture is important (Greece, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Poland, France. Target groups are vocational and tertiary students and trainers, fish farm workers. Potential users are training institutions and SME aquaculture staff. A virtual learning environment shall be created containing course materials with a collection of specific scientific terminology and existing basic level language learning modules supporting the CLIL modules. The project intends to link new language learning methods with tried interactive methods and use both in the new content of fish health/disease. The project will develop four course modules constructed around a familiar work-place context on the topics quality assurance for fish health management, basic techniques in fish haematology, fish diseases, cost-effective feeding for fish. A six-language collection of scientific terminology will be produced. The glossary will be embedded in CLIL vocational training modules with the addition of phrases and basic grammar. All will be available as open and distance learning. Valorisation shall be done with a project awareness campaign and a promotion campaign. Dissemination will be done at industry fairs, in professional networks. The project shall have an impact on the target groups who use the materials and can give a feedback. The long term impact should be seen on the increasing market and the acquisition of skills of the workforce.
