"Perspektive Europa" was aimed at enabling apprentices of IB Brandenburg Nordost through internships to develop their vocational skills in a new environment and in an intercultural team. Due to their social disadvantages these apprentices had had little chance to travel or come into contact with other cultures. Therefore, they lacked intercultural skills. Furthermore, due to their disadvantages, certain key competences were also underdeveloped such as team work, flexibility and the ability to work independently. 16 apprentices will do three-week long internships in companies and organisations in Lithuania and Austria: 6 apprentices in selling and office management will go to Austria and 10 apprentices in hotel and service will work in a hotel in Lithuania. All internships will be supervised be two employees of IB Brandenburg Nordost who will travel with the interns and accompany them during the internship due to the diifficulties the apprentices face because of their disadvantages. Through the internships, the apprentices developed their intercultural and language skills as well as key competences such as teamwork. flexibility and independence. At the same time, they were able to develop and test their vocational skills in a new context. This opened new perspectives for them on the (European) labour market.
