The Comprehensive School of Maniago has been created on 1st September 2012 as a result of the unification of Primary and Lower Secondary School of Maniago. The School wants to merge and to spread the previous experience of the Primary School, by
adapting its educational service to a changing society, which becomes multicultural, uses new languages and information tools, creates new needs in the students and their families; therefore the School needs a plan of internationalization with strategic choices for its improvement and development, based on a good training programme for all school staff.
The main areas for improvement, and the main objectives of the training plan, are related to
1) teachers and other staff enhanced language skills (English basic and intermediate level) in order to qualify the teaching of foreign languages and strengthen international contacts, aiming to prepare future cooperation projects
2) CLIL methodology adopted since primary school, where English teachers have already experienced it
3) better use of ICT in teaching and in every daily practice, so that teachers and students can develop their digital skills
4) consolidated soft skills and human resources management, which should be the first goal and the first concern of good school leaders
5) deepened project management skills, in order to write a European Development Plan with high quality formats of projects by using the PCM techniques.
The Training Plan, which contributes to meeting the needs of the staff and the objectives of the school, is designed to provide the following mobility:
8 primary school teachers and 10 secondary school teachers , 4 administrative employees, 2 other staff, the administrative director and the head teacher.
All the courses are short-term activities ( they last one or two weeks); they will take place in Malta (basic English and ICT Development), United Kingdom (intermediate English and CLIL methodology) and Spain (European projects management).
The methodology to be used is to carry out the training plan by setting up a project team, with the teacher in charge for European projects, the related Commission and the administrative director, who will manage the staff mobility from the preparation activity to the final step, including dissemination.
The expected impact on both the individual and the School level will be recorded by assessing the degree of satisfaction and the competences acquired at personal / interpersonal, educational / professional / occupational level.
The School will eventually benefit from the training experience and the acquired competences of its staff, which will contribute to:
- build new international cooperation and integrate good practices and new methods into daily activities
- improve the strategic planning in order to ensure the quality of the School, which will be more attractive and will meet the needs and the goals of stakeholders
- update the main lines of development of our Educational Offer Plan, with its “inclusion policy” and “educational success guarantee”
- innovate and enhance the European dimension of the School, ensuring its capacity to promote more effective activities for the development of its local community.
A good dissemination plan will widen, extend and reinforce the benefits of the European training experience.
