The project " PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION AS A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT IN THE EU IN THE DIGITAL AGE. A dialogue among Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure Law and Judicial Protection of IP Rights” is composed of a teaching of a 42 hours course, with a cross-sectoral interdisciplinary approach (integrating constitutional law, criminal law, civil procedure law and judicial protection of IP rights perspectives) and of a research activity which will take place at different moments: the first step will consist of the in-depth analysis of the historic-juridical recognition of EU fundamental rights and specifically of the context of the recognition of a fundamental right to personal data protection in the EU. The second step consists of teaching activities held by professors and researchers from other universities in Italy and other EU Member States (as well as new Member States, like Croatia) having a specific competence on EU fundamental rights , the fundamental right to personal data protection, emerging issues in information technology, privacy, data protection and law. A Roundtable Debate will be organized each year at the end of each course, addressing a wider public (legal practitioners, decision makers at national ad EU-wide level, media). Young researchers will be asked to presente their papers on the basis of a call for papers launched during the course. During the roundtables all the papers will be presented and will have the chance to be published on the project website. Didactic material and provisional results of the research will be published on-line on a web-based e-learning platform of the University of Insubria, together with the video recordings of the webinars of the lectures and the roundtables. A dedicated webpage of the project will be set up with the aim to introduce the project, launch the call for papers. The project foresees the setting up of new Erasmus Agreements and a new reserch network on EU fundamental rights.
