Situated in a rural area in Ruffec, North of the Charente in the Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes region, our school is offering a general and vocational teaching in a private and agricultural field. It is a comprehensive school with a large range of activities welcoming 250 students from 13 to 22 years old, 5 to 10 % of them have an Anglo-saxon origin. Our project was born as part of an action of dissemination led by three teachers of our school previously involved in a KA1 programme. Once back from their mobility they led a workshop about « the opening of the school to the international » during a training course organized by the school's principal on December 4th, 2015. A group of around 10 teachers and school-life staff decided to participate in a training course to improve their level of English. This course will eventually benefit the students and the school in the future. The mobility which has been chosen by the school is a 10 day training course for linguistic purposes (from July 10th to July 21st 2017) in English (levels A2-B1 CEFRL) in Dublin for a group of 9 teachers, the librarian and a school-life educator working in the school. The choice has been made to choose Irish host families for accomodation. This training course has many goals :- Enter our programmes in a European context : students'training periods abroad, teaching materials in English, actions of international solidarity as part of the ecological label of the school, actions to develop the students'mobility in Europe.- Offer a better support to the students.- Offer a better hospitality to the Anglo-saxon families in our area and in our school.- Improve the communication and exchanges with European partners. The reaching of these goals will require the improvement of the staff's skills especially in oral English. This training course must encourage communication in English in order to be more and more at ease in the use of this language. The idea is also to provide a framework to professionnal or socio-cultural activities with the Anglo-saxon community, to offer training periods to students abroad and be able (as teachers) to do the monitoring of these periods, to be more at ease with scientific documents written in English. Finally, we hope that this small group motivated to take part in this project will manage to motivate other colleagues to improve in turn their English, encourage them to be more mobile and more open to Europe.Indeed, the increase of European school projects is one answer to the school project goals. It helps attract new students and improve our school image.During the mobility, the participants will be monitored by the teachers of the training organisation who will lead the activities. Besides, final tests are planned at the end of the training course to measure the development of the trainees' skills. Thus, the programme of activities will be led in English only, through situations of communication with professionnals, role-playing... For the participants, the goal is to overcome complexes in speaking activities in English and exchange with others more easily and fluently .This confidence should help students improve their linguistic skills, increase their confidence and develop their mobility. Being more open to Europe will help our school be more recognized in our area of action with its local partners and institutions. One of the school's issues is to prepare the students to their vocational integration in a world more and more open to international exchanges. It is essential for the students to be mobile and openminded. It is also important to offer the best hospitaliy in our school to British families.
