The project “Peace among Vikings” will take place at Ulfjótsvatn Scout Centre in South Iceland. "Peace among Vikings" is a youth meeting project, based on the theme of European citizen awareness, outdoor activities and project management. The projects aim is:-To enhance the participants abilities in human and international communications skills. -To enhance the participants interest to become more aware of the culture of their neighboring countries.-To enhance the participants ability to gain new ideas and share their experience.-To enhance the participants ability to enjoy life in the nature. -To enhance the participants ability to create and run projects in local, national or international Scouting.-To enhance the participants ability to create a better World.The project lasts for 4 days with 1 travel days, giving 3 days for the main work. There are 6 countries participating, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Greenland. Iceland being the host. The participants are expected to be 31 in all, 4 from each country except from Denmark which will have 7 participants and the host country which will have 8 participants who also take the responsibility to run the project successfully in partnership with all the participants. A preparatory-work is expected to take place on the Internet about four weeks prior to the main project. The “learning by doing” method will be used throughout along with debriefing. Participants will go trekking in mountains, sleep outside, present their scouting experience from their countries on local and global level, nature around the scout-centre and will be explored and participants will reflect their ideas and put into practice in partnership with other nationalities. Participants will explore each other culinary traditions, and traditions associated with scouting amongst other activities.
