The objective of this proposal is twofold: (1) to systematically develop new skills in the metallurgical sector from the productive fabric and (2) to devise a methodology for the evaluation and certification of these new skills on the basis of existing reference models and of the vocational training systems of participating countries. The project will therefore identify a range of typical skills, adapt how they are defined in relation to existing reference models and conduct an in-depth analysis of any existing evaluation and certification systems in the formal system and productive fabric. This will involve developing tools for the evaluation of competencies and devising protocols for their use by modelling a common method based on the numerous existing systems. The results of the project will provide businesses with a method for validating skills similar to vocational training system models, encourage visibility and the development of individual potential and contribute to better management of skills and continuing training. They will allow workers to have their non-formal competencies recognised and will bridge the gap between (formal, informal and non-formal) continuous learning systems on the one hand and the world of education (competency providers) and the productive fabric (consumer- supplier) on the other.
