The project aims at designing and spreading out a learning system such as to blend the more traditional e learning based training modalities with a knowledge acquisition system based on virtual facilitators (the Intelligent Agents, i.e. applied artificial intelligence ).Whose task is training the learners to upgrade and update their competences through the acquisition of experiential skills through simulation. Simulations are essential components of the current projects training programme, because is only through real facts or virtual simulation of the reality that experiential knowledge and the relevant skills may be acquired. The learners shall be maintenance staff as well as mechatronic personnel of transport industries (air and railways companies). Shortly: via the simulations the project intends to meet the need perceived in the transport industry, of updating the competences of key personnel, without loosing the strength of skills acquired through experience -- OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES: Objectives: to create a new didactic model, demonstrate the didactic effectiveness of artificial intelligence applied to the training of technical staff in the transport industry. Activities: a pilot experience where to test the afore mentioned didactic with maintenance personnel and mechanical-electronics technicians of air and railways companies -- RESULTS AND PRODUCTS: As final outcome the project will implement a training programme for the relevant target sector largely based on simulations and virtual facilitators (Intelligent Agents, i.e artificial intelligence applied to training). -- POTENTIAL FUTURE: Eventual extensions could be discussed during the project’s implementation
