Responding to an identified need for a European network for prison arts education, the PAN European Network was established bringing together a wide range of active and associate partners from across Europe, each with a confirmed interest in the policies and practice of delivering arts education to adult offenders and ex-offenders. Building upon an initial analysis of national support for arts education in prison, partners shared knowledge on existing approaches, identified good or interesting practice, developed new pedagogical approaches and materials, explored the potential for combined arts education, reviewed training and qualifications options for offenders and ex-offenders and regularly promoted the findings of the network to wider stakeholders, including at policy level. The PAN Network continues to collaborate with the European Prison Education Association (EPEA) beyond the funded project period.
