Palliative Care is described as ‘’the prevention and alleviating of pain and an approach that aims to improve the quality of life by early detection of pain and other problems and meeting physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs for patients and families having problems due to life-threatening chronic diseases ‘’by world Health Organization. health professionals have started to work for old age and society with Changes in population and global aging and to train staff to offer this service , to provide health services for society needs has been necessary . Interest for the problems of old age has been increased in the last 20-30 years with the change occurred in world population and the global aging. according to WHO, this increase occurring in chronic diseases creates serious economic burden on esspecially the developing countries. In the field of nursing education programs are regulated in accordance with the community's changing health problems and the changes in the best way towards meeting the needs of an aging population are made. The importance of palliative care has been recognized by European countries and palliative care has spread rapidly around the world. In our country, palliative care is having more importance with the growing elderly population in recent years and increase in the intensive care burden caused by chronic diseases. Palliative Care Center that has 15 beds in our institution has been opened but not yet activated within the scope of this study. According to The Ministry of Health restructuring program 2010-2023 gaining experience in advanced centers for palliative care , integration into the international education about Palliative Care Organization and direction, of team members that will work in the centers , developing palliative care organization model, to create the necessary conditions, to operate in the most effective way for standardized the care process are planned. As consortium, we have applied to this Project to capture the European standards in the palliative care services that is increasingly having importance. Sweden , from the Scandinavian countries that is described as welfare states creates better living standards for citizens in health policy. By this way, it aims to strengthen the economic situation of society and state. It is one of the advanced countries in palliative care. So Sweden has been identified as our abroad partner. The nursing students who have not yet graduation will gain social-cultural and vocational experience and knowledge in professional fields after internships they did at a university hospital in Sweden . 15 personal, teacher and 16 students will join to program.
