PROJECT
FINISHED
Pals Web TV project is based on the concept of using community reporting and peer learning as an inclusive method to empower youth communities from different regions of the world. This will be achieved by providing vulnerable young people (disable, young people with mental health conditions and those coming from disadvantaged areas) with both media skills and the necessary platform to tell their stories in the format of TV show. This project will allow the creation of a Web TV (supported by a free and open source content management system) as a solution to give voice to young people in a fun and informal way, and using a range of social media tools. The platform will allow real-time collaborative work among a team of youth contributors from Europe and beyond. An App complementary to the Web TV will be created and available to download from the Android and Mac markets. The App will update users when new blogs, videos, posts, etc. become available on the Web TV.To ensure wide dissemination of the project findings, PalsTV foreseen to organize national youth showcases where digital and multimedia youth creations will be shown in the presence of local authorities, institutions, representative and people concerned by the topics addressed, and followed by debates amongst the viewers and participants. A showcase will be also held at international level in Macedonia. The key innovations in the project are not just in the application of community reporting with vulnerable youth but in how these have been integrated into sustainable structures and activities for local communities. PalsTV will provide community with reporter training to optimize the use of local learning and media resources in order to equip youth with fewer opportunities and to improve their chances of finding employment through social inclusion and equal opportunity. Each participant will develop skills through expression, journalism, photography, storytelling and social media with the aim of improving their living conditions and understanding between youth of different backgrounds. Local media hubs will be developed in each partner country for optimization of local learning and media centres in a mix of delivery mechanisms including online access. PalsTv includes also training on sustainability and income generation for the youth communities, and support for developing sustainability plans.Youth Workers will improve also their professional profile by acquiring the media and peer learning knowledges to apply them in their futher work with young disadvantaged groups. The project will run in Spain, Macedonia, Nepal, Indonesia and Guatemala and using a mix of media for disadvantaged youth communities and other stakeholders that targets the different audiences. It will allow participation of at least 100 young people from target communities in developing internal and external communication for the community and the youth organizations using appropiate media.
