The aim of the Workshop Theater is to bring together young people, aged between 15 and 29 that have experienced youth unemployment alongside the public authorities who make the political decisions that affect their lives, using creative and interactive presentations. The group will be drawn from the Municipality of Lieto's Employment Services and the City of Naantali's Areal Youth Services and will work in the theatre over a two-week period, on a stage production based on the theme of youth unemployment. This process will culminate in the presentations of the show in the municipality house of Lieto. The performance will involve a group of 16 young men and women, and four youth workers, drawn from both from the Lieto and Naantali areas. The training will take place in the city of Naantali's Kesäranta. We will begin by holding a planning meeting with the whole group and then move on to the theatre training programme, which will last two weeks. The group and the theatre directors will train together for six hours per day and at the end of this period they will stage two performances, each held in the centres of the partner areas. In addition to those who will be performing, the production will also bring in young people from the areas, to participate in the planning and backstage creative processes - including set-design and construction, marketing and promotional material, and a film recording of the production. The performances will be advertised and be free to the public. Invitations will also be sent out asking local authorities to attend - including local politicians, the social services, educational institutes and the offices of employment and economy. The performance will begin by presenting Youth in Action and the question 'What is youth unemployment?' followed by the main theatre production; finally the performers and the audience members from the local authorities will be invited to hold a discussion of the presentation. After the performances, all those involved in staging the production will hold one final evaluation meeting where they will be able to give feedback on their experience.
