The project Over the Horizon was created as the result of consultation with related public, finding out the need of opening "horizon" with new set of methods for youth work, for the group of youth workers working in specific field of culture (leading a youth choir). In their everday practise, they use rather the methods of formal education, but there is lack of knowledge, skills and attitudes for the role of the youth worker. The educational seminar is therefore based on two linked lines, which reflect the complexity of what they need for long-term work with the particular group of young people. The content is aimed with balance to specific field knowledge and skills and at the same time to youth work. The international character of the seminar is another source of learning of the participants using the principle of peer - learning. Our effort is to get the diversity of utilized methods within seminar (preferably elements and methods of non formal education, and of formal education too). The goals of the seminar are: - to reflect and empower the role of the participant as youth worker by providing new competencies - to extend a viewpoint of the participant with the field of non formal education and key competencies for life-long learning - create a space for mutual understanding of participants and their culture specifics from both countries, launching the personal contacts for future cooperation and exchange the knowledge on conditions and recent trends from the field of choir singing - to educate the participants in the field expertise, which is needed for particular field There are 50 participants to attend the seminar from Czech and Slovak Republic (incl. facilitators). The impact of the seminar is foreseen firstly for participants and the group of young people they work with, but indirectly for communities they work in, in both countries. Establishing the personal contacts enable the birth of own bilateral projects between participants. The implementation of the project as the first seminar of this format for youth workers in the field of non professional art activities ever can contribute to further development of similar educational programs and necessary innovations.
