The aim of the project is to move the Emergency department and renovate the ground floor of the building for it and make some renovations at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at the Municipal Hospital of Lugoj. Equipment is purchased for these departments and a teleradiology and video conference system. Renovations and procurement of medical equipment is planned at the Dr. Diósszilágyi Sámuel Hospital - Outpatient Clinic of Makó as well.Trainings are part of the programme, as well as awareness raising activities and screening of the public. General objective of the project is the development of the health care in the project area. The specific objective is further assure joint co-operation, generated by the infrastructural development. The direct beneficiaries of the project are patients of the partner institutions (Dr. Diósszilágyi Sámuel Hospital - Outpatient Clinic- 55.000 persons living in the area and Municipal Hospital of Lugoj - 88.000 persons living in the area). The other significant target group is the health care professionals who can improve the quality of their work as a result of the developments (doctors, nurses), since more efficient medical devices, enlarged professional knowledge and renewed working environment will be available for them. The number of the health care professionals is 176 in Makó and 220 in Lugoj.The "Heart to Heart" sub-programme results will be shown in case of patients inclined to cardiovascular diseases such as diabetics, smokers, obese people, and last but not at least persons having high blood pressure or high cholesterol level. Today, 5-7 million people of the Romanian population diagnosed with one type of high blood pressure. The project results concern not only the patients, but also their family members and caretakers in an indirect way, thus resulting in the improvement of the health of the whole society.
