Our international professionalization secures their future

In elementary school Roezemoes Zeebrugge we have the following challenges : * We have large groups of children with a large diversity (different learning levels and low social-economic status) and this with limited classrooms ; * There's a significant increase in the number of pupils and there's a significant increase in the number of SES-courses arising from the large group of children with a 'care'background without an immediate increase of teachers. * The M - Decreet of the Flemish Government is introduced and its main objective is to include children with disabilities and special educational needs in mainstream education ; without the extra necessary knowledge en skills for our teachers. * An urgent need for professionalization of the schoolteam to better cope and manage the above described challenges. Therefore, the school's core team proposes the following working items as priorities : - Possible other forms of didactic approach and create new methods/insights on learning and teaching to give all off the children the best development opportunities and increase their involvement in education . - Encourage individual learning processes of children ( self ) . - Giving priority to improve preventive basic care besides remediation . - Increase the skills and ability of the individual teacher and the school by a further professionalization . - Monitoring the continueus balance between the expected learning process and the wellbeing / involvement of each individual child . - Developping children into autonomous learners, which means that they reflect as much as possible in all the activities of their learning process. -Coaching the change of attitude with the teachers of the school and the parents towards another way of organising class groups. We want to find solutions to these items in an international context . We are convinced that European insights can offer us more added value to our challenges. Hereby we explore different teaching methods that come with a preventive aim : by using good teaching methods , we can perform early detection and avoid learning difficulties and development delay. We want to use the European knowledge and experience that already has been used in simular situations. We want to join and actively participate in a European network to further professionalize our team so that we can offer lasting quality education in the future.
