FINISHED
The ‘Our Identity” project is organized by the members of the Association of Fans of Folk Culture FOLKIER and their partners from the Vilnus area in the time range from 13th to 20th of July 2015 in Zgierz in Poland. The main goal of the project is the meeting of two groups of young people – Poles living in Poland and Lithuania. Thanks to that meeting we will be able to get to know each other better, including our cultures, our attitude towards our Polish nature and the way we protect it. The main topic of the exchange is the folk culture, especially the Old Polish rites of folk ceremonies which are the Kupala Day and harvest thanksgiving.
There will be 26 people included in the project, 12 participants from each country and one leader at each side. We are going to arrange for the sex equality. The participants of the exchange are the young people, actively participating in our organizations. We have the motivation for meeting new people, find ours feet in the new circumstances and learn our history and reminding our tradition. Along with the group from Lithuania we planned the variety of activities, among others: folk dance and handicraft workshops and the preparation of the music and dance show.
In the process of our actions we are going to work by the project methodology. It is important for us that our actions will be realized in the planned way. We do not want neither crisis situations nor misunderstandings.
Thanks to our project two groups of young people with common routes, but different due to the place of their living, will have the chance to meet, cooperate and make new friendships. We will widen our knowledge in the folk rites and ceremonies area. Thanks to that we will be able to use obtained knowledge and skills in the future works with local communities. What is more, we are willing for further cooperation, contact and joint actions when the project finishes.
