Search for European Projects

OtaTeach 2014-2016
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

We are applying for an Erasmus + In-service training funding for three subject teachers (languages, maths, history and social studies ) in Otalampi Comprehensive school. Teachers are attending different courses in different countries according to the school's needs and their own professional interests. The school is preparing for the new curriculum in 2016 and all of the school's development needs are related to it. In order for us to effectively implement the new curriculum, it is essential that the teachers examine their own teaching methods and see learning and learning environments from a new perspective. Our goal is to develop teachers' didactic knowledge and to promote creativity and cross curricular projects, such as the school's Europe Week which is organized in the spring 2014.The aim is to continue with the project in the coming years as well . The selected courses that the teacher’s are attending will support this goal and increase their expertise in European affairs. We wish to develop our school and our community and to increase the internationality and cultural competence of our teachers and pupils. This will contribute to whole the municipality. During the training it is important to build relationships with colleagues, build a network of partners throughout Europe and possibly find an eTwinning partner school. In the future there might be a possibility for teacher and pupil exchange or visit. Our school continues to develop the usage of information and communication technologies and we hope to gain new ideas and practical applications for implementing IT in teaching and networking. The teachers will prepare for the training by making pre-tasks or by familiarizing themselves with the pre-reading and other course material. They will also plan how to implement the context of the course in their future teaching or projects. During the training, teachers work in accordance with the objectives of the course, actively assess their learning and share their experience eg in the form of a blog . After the training, the teachers will implement their new skills and ideas in the subject they are teaching, in collaborative projects and in the school’s curricular work. They will also share their knowledge and material in the school and in the municipality.
