Organizational democracy and leadership for EUouth organizations

The project is designed to work with a number of common challenges that the participating organizations are facing. During the compilation of the project the recurring challenges faced by the organisations has been compared. Some of the challenges faced by all or most of the participating organizations have been chosen as themes for the project. The basic values and goals of the project are democracy, cooperation, participation, quality improvement, leader development and organizational development. Within the project we would like to work with the following issues: - Leadership and self-leadership - Continuity - Organizational democracy - Inclusion, anti discrimination and accessibility - Development of international cooperation The participants in the project will be 28 young people active in a leading role in their organization. The participants will be mixed up to include both those with a long experience and those who are in the beginning of their leadership/engagement. The participants are all active in an organization working to promote media production among young people, and most of them are also active as media producers/journalists. As methods to achieve the above-mentioned development - exchange of experiences and method development are two keys. The existing knowledge and experiences of the participants is the base of the exchange. By gathering people with various experiences and backgrounds well make sure to be able to develop new methods connected to the themes of the project. The exchange of experience between the participants is complemented with input from external experts on various issues. This contributes to new knowledge within the group. The results of the project will be an improvement of the competences of the participating individuals, and the production of material that will be used both internally and externally. The produced material is going to be spread externally to other youth organisatiions in Europe and beyond - but will also be used in the participating organizations as means of providing training courses on a national, regional and local level within the themes of this project. The main objective of the project is to improve some of the very basic parts of an organization - and by doing so the organisation itself may function more properly. The main point is though to improve the organizations to be able to reach a wider range of young people, and improve the quality of the everyday activities of the organisation.
