Opportunities for people with less opportunities
Start date: Dec 1, 2013,
Project “Opportunities for people with less opportunities” is specially designed for disabled volunteers and volunteers with less opportunities. These volunteers would require a special support person to facilitate them during their EVS. We decided to write the special sending project for these 3 disabled volunteers, because they are looking for the project for a long time and nobody wants to take them. It is the same situation with 3 disadvantaged volunteers, who are orphans, or having a criminal record, coming from the rural areas and are long time unemployed. These volunteers can’t compete against healthy, nice looking and well educated youngsters who are looking for the EVS projects. They are always left out. Therefore, our organization spoke to the hosting organizations which we know very well and which have the experience with handicapped and disadvantaged volunteers. We have met in person with the representatives of the organizations and the support persons of the volunteers. We have seen the project sights in Poland and in Lithuania. We have discussed volunteer tasks. Organizations know the disabilities and the disadvantages of the volunteers. The volunteers are introduced with the project.Disabled girl Agija and disadvantaged young man Reinis would go to EFM (Poland) and join the activities with children and young people. Project will last 10 months from 01.01.2014 to 31.10.2014.Disabled girl Baiba and disadvantaged young orphan Patricija will go for the short term EVS to Lithuania to Grazute Regional Park from 01.04.2014- 31.05.2014. During the spring time there are many things to get busy in order to prepare the Regional Park for the season.Disabled young man Roberts and disadvantaged young man Janis would help the International volunteering organization in Bogota, Colombia from 01.01.2014 to 31.10.2014. Since, we cooperate the first time, we would like to see the project sight and discuss the tasks in Advance Planing Visit.
