Oppivat opettajat - uutta osaamista etsimässä
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Learning teachers – looking for new know-how is a consortium project for a daycare centre, two primary schools, a comprehensive school and an upper secondary school in the Municipality of Mäntyharju. It is a two-year project for the enhancement of teachers’ international readiness and vocational competence. The aim, inspired by the new law on early childhood education and new national curriculum, is to look for new methods, ideas and tools to improve teaching. In addition to general international skills, the teachers want to acquire more information about the use of drama, project learning and participatory pedagogics in teaching. Furthermore, teachers are interested in the effect of optional studies on study motivation and methods to improve school satisfaction and calm atmosphere in classrooms. At least two teachers will visit a receiving school at the same time. By monitoring teaching and talking with the teachers there, we will look for new methods and procedures to apply in our own teaching at our own schools. With this project we try to have an influence on the introduction of the possibilities offered by the new law on early childhood education and the new national curriculums at basic education and secondary school education to renew teaching. Teachers’ internationalisation and new skills will develop the organisations in the consortium. Good quality teaching and international contacts will benefit pupils. Also, it is likely that, due to their own experiences, the teachers will have more courage to participate in exchange programs abroad with their pupils.
