The project: „ Onesimus- The Beginning of Mastering a Craft” has set as its main objective to organize a youth exchange program with the participation of 10-10 young participants who live in unfavorable social and economic conditions in Romania and Hungary.
During this exchange program we will focus on the following objectives:
-developing the participants crafting skills: presenting and learning the basics of at least 4 crafts (joinery of wooden games, jewelry making from different materials, crafting of textiles, photography etc.)
- experience exchange and intercultural learning
-social awareness and active participation in the development of the society by preparing different objects that will be donated to schools, kindergartens or orphanages
- developing self-confidence, positive attitude towards life and work
The project addresses young people who come from disorganized families or are orphans and have reached the ages of 17-18 and are at the beginning of their adult, independent life, but because of the conditions they come from do not have the possibilities or the needed skills to manage on their own and are in great need of help and mentoring.
They have been part of a longer integration program for 3 years which runs under the Onesimus name. The young beneficiaries wish to enhance and improve this program with an international learning opportunity and we consider that it will help with the broadening of the young participant’s horizons and their motivation.
As the job opportunities are few and the young people who have social and behavioral problems and do not have sufficient educational preparedness are in great disadvantage and have less chances in getting jobs. Therefore any opportunity for their personal and professional development that will help their process of integration in society is much needed.
In the conception of the OBMC we took in consideration these needs and we have thought of ways to offer the development of practical and useful skills that they can use on the competitive labor market.
