Once upon a time...
Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

he »Once upon a time…« project will be taking place from January to June 2015 in Trbovlje, Slovenia. The main aim of the project is, by use of creative methods, to revive mythological and fairytale creatures and introduce them to the public, thereby discovering our own cultural heritage and promoting it on the international level with the aim of learning about the common points and accepting cultural differences. The project consists of two activities; the first being the European Voluntary Service (January to June 2015) and the second an International Youth Exchange (8th to 18th of May 2015). We are planning to engage 25 young people from 17 to 20 years of age. The project will comprise several different activities; some will be taking place in the local environments of the partner organizations (analyzing local and national literature, co-creating one fairytale character, preparing the teams for the International Youth Exchange, working on the promotional-intro etc.), while the others (such as the European Voluntary Service and the International Youth Exchange) will be taking place in Trbovlje. During the International Youth Exchange we will produce the scenography for the festival, create the costumes to be worn by the participants, as well as carry out the media activities, that will be taking place during the entire duration of the exchange (video documentation). The project will leave a strong influence not only on the young participants (foreign language competence, intercultural learning, personal development, learning project management, becoming aware of the entire creational process - form the idea to its realization, learning about their own as well as foreign cultural heritage etc.), but also on the entire local community. During the exchange, young people in the local community will have the opportunity to associate daily with young people from other countries, cooperate with them in different activities or visit their national evenings. In that way it will be easy to promote international mobility and encourage young people from our local environment to take part in sending exchanges and/or other mobility projects. We believe that the closing event of the exchange will attract and involve a variety of people from the local community, for it will connect all generations, present international fairytales and characters to children, young people, young families and grand-parents alike.
