The aim of the project is to connect the two countries with the help of built bicycle roads on the river dams. Approximately 40 km bicycle road are built, connecting the road networks of towns and villages along the flood protecting dams. New possibilities will appear in the development of the village-tourism: new sporting possibilities for the people living close and for the tourists. The flood safety will increase and a cheaper flood protection will be possible. The general objective is to improve development of cross-border connections. The specific objective of the project is to build bicycle roads on flood protecting dam-top along river Szamos/Somes on both sides of the border.The cross-border effect of the project is evident, as a new transport mode will be evolved along river Szamos on both sides of the border. The connection will be between Satu Mare and the Hungarian villages, and between Csenger and Romanian villages. The bicycle road could be part of a touristic network crossing the border at several locations, which would contribute to the disappearances of borders and would form direct connections between citizens on both sides of the border.The main beneficiaries of the project are the towns and villages along river Szamos/Somes.
