On the spot – Youth Work in Georgia

The Study Visit “On the spot – Youth Work in Georgia” is dedicated to youth work on community level and volunteering in a development context and would like to introduce the youth work reality in Georgia as an example of the EECA region to its participants.The study visit offer visits to Georgian non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working with young people with fewer opportunities, particularly with Internally Displaced youth, and young people that are living in secondary cities and rural areas, in order to get familiar with the work of those NGOs and their potentials for cooperation projects. A second theme of the study visits is to discover how these organisations include volunteering and international encounters into their work to empower their target group.Hence, the study visit aims to introduce several NGOs and their work as a starting point for discussing the potentials of community projects in empowering young people and for developing international cooperation projects enhancing local capacities for international volunteering projects. The cities to be visited are Tbilisi, Rustavi, Ozurgeti, Zugdidi and Batumi. The project will be organized for 32 youth workers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey, and United Kingdom. The Academy for Peace and Development will coordinate and host the project in Georgia, from 30 March to 06 April 2013.
