ÖZEL EĞİTİMDE TOPLUMSAL YAŞAM BECERİLERİNİ GELİŞTİRME

Our school started education in 1949 and one of the biggest vocatioal high school with its 820 students in our district. Our students who graduated from Special Education programme can find jobs in their own professions in both public and private sectors. Hands-on education of life skills in special education ratio is very high in Europe. In our school only theoric education of life skills in special education can be given. However we realised in our surveys that, our students are feeling insufficient about their hands-on education of life skills in special education. Besides, families of students who need special education behave too protective and isolate the children from the public. The target of “Developing Social Life Skills in Special Education” poject is to raise awareness of the families of students who need special education and raising self confident and independent individuals starting from preschool period, in accordance with the education that is taken in Europe, firstly in our district, city and in our country. With this project; it is aiming that to investigate the tools, methods an technics that are used in special education in EU Countries, to make comparison by inspecting special education syllabus, to get experience on gaining hands-on education of life skills in special education, to make practice on foreign language, to create personal and professional awareness by taking education in different cultures, and increasing employment level of students who need special education. We will found a board of directors after getting confirmation for our project. Project coordinator will be responsible for each step of preparation, execution and evaluation, 2 travel coordinators will be responsible for supplying logistics support and making travel organization. Education coordinator will be responsible for education, budget coordinator will be responsible financial issues and communication coordinator will be responsible for communication. And monitoring and evalution coordinator will be selected to evaluate the project. 39 students will be selected as 3 groups each has 13 students and 5 substitute students will be selected. A commission will be founded for selection of students and the selections will be make according to predefined criterias. Managers and teachers will be selected as 3 groups each has 2 people. We took care to specify the partners from schools which are successfull about speacial education and gives importance to hands-on education in special education. Our partner in Hungary, Barczi Gusztav Ovoda Altalanos Iskola es Keszsegfejleszto Specialis Szakiskola, is an experienced school with its 180 student and 100 teachers for 30 years. It has a reputation for its awards that was gained for offering facilities in education and employment level of its graduates. It gives certificate for professional competence training and supplies employment guarantee under rules that are defined by state. Therapie Institut Keil has been giving education to autistic children and teenages for 49 years in Vienna. Their vision is “Little steps for a big aim”. They are giving an extensive and rich education for children and teenages who has various needs and supports. Besides daily treatment and education they are supplying awareness, practices for daily life, social environment of parents and children, positive treatmant on teenagers and young adults and phsycologic support and pedagogic consultancy in case of crisis. The students in Spain Cee Mercedes Sanramo school, that is our partner in Spain, all need special education. And there are 110 students, 25 teachers and also several doctors and physiotherapists and nurses in the school. It is a complete rehabilitation center. Implementation activities will be made for 2 weeks as following. 1st group, 4th of March – 20th of Mart 2017 in Spain, 2nd group, 31th of March – 16th of April 2017 in Austria, 3rd group 30th of April – 16th of May 2017 in Hungary. Our partners are experts on special education and implementation of life skills. They are all also experts about hands-on education of life skills in special education. Our participants will gain knowledge, ability and experience by taking internship education. They will have the opportunity to share this experience in our country. They will have international certificates which will increase their epmloyment level. The student will be asked to answer surveys, to fulfill interview forms, knowledge tests and activity evaluation forms during the project. Result : With this internship education, our participants will have a methodolgy close to EU standarts on teaching social life skills to students who need special education. And children who need special education can be rasied as self confident and independent individuals starting from preschool education.
