The project "Young IT specialists’ placements in the UK" implemented a four-week placements of 22 students of IT and some other specializations in companies in the UK in May-June 2015 in collaboration with the partner Language Solution, Portsmouth, UK. The main reason and objective of our project was to give students especially students from socially disadvantaged families, students with learning disabilities, but on the other hand talented students the opportunity to gain professional experience and improve their practical skills in their field, to gain language, organizational, social and personal skills, the possibility to integrate in the European working environment and to improve the level of key competencies and skills with regard to their importance for the labour market, to ensure their professional growth which will lead to their successful employment after leaving school and will improve the level of education at our school to meet the main objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy and the Erasmus + programme. Another aim of our project was implementation of ECVET for developing learning outcomes in the field of IT, which meant describing units of learning outcomes, establishing mutual trust with our partners in the Partner Agreement and Memoranda of Understanding, using Learning agreements for every mobility, recording and evaluating placements by means of Personal Transcripts and Europasses Mobility, validation, recognition, transferring and accumulation of assessed learning outcomes and improving the quality of mobility and vocational education. The project involved 3rd- year IT students including students with specific learning disabilities and 1st and 2nd-year talented students of different specializations. We hope that mobility is the impetus for these students to self-realization, gaining interest in studies and motivation to develop their potential and the successful start of their professional and personal lives. For both of these groups of students we had to adjust training, educational conditions, units of learning outcomes with regard to needs of each group. Students worked in companies 7-8 hours a day 5 days a week and for a period of mobility they fulfilled units of learning outcomes, such as setting- up a computer, designing and involvement of the local network and the Internet, work with Office, database, increasing the professional competence and skills programming, troubleshooting. During the first days of placements, participants were also instructed in safety and fire protection in the workplace. Within the placements learning outcomes were assessed and the results of evaluation were recorded in Personal Transcripts and after the mobility according to Learning agreements validation and recognition of learning outcomes took place. The overall evaluation of the project was held as well. To obtain social and intercultural skills, we visited Chichester College and in free time and at the weekends we took trips and did sightseeing around Portsmouth and Hampshire. Validation and recognition of acquired units of learning outcomes by each participant was provided by means of specific Learning Agreements, Personal Transcripts, Europasses Mobility and Certificates of Proficiency Work Experience. We think that our project had a huge impact on participants who connected their theoretical knowledge with practical experience and improved their professional, linguistic, organizational, intercultural competences and skills. There was an important impact of the project on participants´ gaining social and personal skills, communication skills, gaining confidence, the ability to adapt to the working environment particularly for students with specific learning disabilities and talented students. The project also had an impact on all SŠTE students which are interested more in studies. The level of vocational education at our school is improving. Setting the quality of vocational education is proved by the implementation of the project results in teaching, particularly of technical subjects, English, introducing new technologies and IT programs in teaching, experience gained from work with talented students and students with learning disabilities. Regarding the partner organizations and companies in addition to gaining experience in organization and management of international mobility, experience of working and providing placements for talented students, students with learning disabilities and their practical support during their stay in the UK, cooperation with SŠTE, the development of international relations and improving communication between the partners in the UK was strengthened.
