Objetivo AICLE (Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenidos y Lenguas Extranjeras)
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

‘CLIL Objective’ (Content and Language Integrated Learning) is a project of Pericot Primary and Infant school to be performed during the next academic year. The aim of this project is to improve the general knowledge of English amongst the whole staff to make most of them able to communicate in the three languages which are contemplated in our School project: Catalan, Spanish and English. With the intention to obtain this goal, we believe that a group of 4 members of our staff which are already taking English lessons spend some time in the UK doing a course and integrating into the Language and Culture. The Center we have chosen is a School in Edinburgh which specializes in teaching English to adults. The lessons will be focussing on the improvement of speaking with a maximum of six students per groups. The student’s accommodation will be with native families to maximise their contact with the language. We believe, this work on the oral language skills will not only improve the level of oral English of our staff but also encourage them to continue in the process of learning the language, once they are back. And we also hope this enthusiasm will be passed onto the rest of the staff members which are already studying English. Increasing the number of staff able to speak or teach English, will also help to attend those children with learning difficulties due to their poor social background origins.Other members of staff will visit different schools in Belgium, Estonia, and Greece to observe and share reflexions about teaching English and the connection with other languages taught at school (job shadowing). This would affect in total 6 members of our staff (managing team, heads of cycle or department). Two more mobility is going to be for two non-language courses: one AICLE course for Pre-primary teachers, in order to improve the lack of resources in this section, and another one about Neuro Linguistic Programming. Our school is currently, already working on a plan to encourage members of staff to use English on a daily bases with the students. Our Qualified English teachers are “coaching” and offering advice to the rest of the staff on “How, When and What” can they do in their lessons to include some teaching resources in English. In order to improve everybody’s speaking skills, the School will employ a Native speaker to work on the improvement of the speaking skills. All these activities would allow our School to improve and accelerate considerably the development of a Trilingual Linguistic Project by being able to apply CLIL Methodology in our School Curriculum. In order for this to work we expect the whole School Community to get involved. We believe the best role model for our students would be to see their own teachers being able to speak fluently in the three Languages during their Lessons. Being able to take on all the planned activities by our staff would mean real progress to the development of our trilingual Linguistic Project. With such a singular Project among the state schools in our city, we hope to become a more a school with more demand for the parents as we have been one of the less demanded schools as a first option in the whole city so far.
