The project ‘Modern Measurement Technologies – an Opportunity for Better Employment’ will be carried out by Vocational High School for Surveyors and Other Technical Profiles in Lodz (Zespół Szkół Geodezyjno-Technicznych im. Sybiraków w Łodzi, ZSG-T) in cooperation with its German partner Vitalis GmbH. The main objective of the project is to support the students during their acquisition of competencies in order to extend their opportunities for personal development and for employment on the European job market and beyond, as well as to ensure wider recognition of their gained competences during their training abroad. Moreover, the aim of the project is also to boost employment opportunities for the school’s graduates, both on the national and European markets. The project will enable the student to improve their practical surveying measuring skills. Performing the measurements at the German partner’s, the students will familiarize themselves with technologies and procedures already established in another European country. This experience will significantly expand their range of skills, which will be assessed not only by the school but, in the near future, by an employer. Within the project the students will: - familiarize themselves with engineering and industrial facilities - improve their skills in the area of surveying services at the site: processing of the surveying project data - familiarize themselves with building site procedures and regulations - improve their measurement techniques - improves the skill of profession-based language - learn new technologies in the field The participants of the project will be provided with a set of project tasks. In order to do them, they will have to plan and perform surveying measurements, and then process the results. These measurements will take place on a building site. Each training will last two weeks, between September 2015 and April 2017. The project is aimed at 101 students training as Surveyor technicians and 7 supervisors /teachers of ZSG-T in Lodz. B – Apart from students mastering their measurement skills, they will also be provided with activities and programmes whose aim is to promote German culture and history. Planned training dates: 1st group March 2016 2nd group April 2016 3rd group September 2016 4th group October 2016 5th group October 2016 6th group March 2017 7th group April 2017 The selection of the participants will adhere to the principle of equal opportunities and other stipulations. The students taking part in the project originate from various social backgrounds, including those affected by unemployment or its risk, different financial status and those from rural areas. The knowledge and skills gained during the project will have an impact on fostering the students’ entrepreneurial attitudes and will facilitate an effective search for employment on the European market. In addition, the gained student mobility will inspire creativity and boost those intangible skills highly praised by employers. Furthermore, the school will diversify its vocational education curriculum and review its training programme, which will be directly translated into the results in professional exams. The implementation of the project will contribute to the adaptation of the national vocational education to the requirements of the European vocational education system.
