The project ‘’The modern school with tradition” is planned to be the first stage of the realization of the new image of the school. It will turn from a provincial school into a modern European school with a 150 – year history. The teachers will take part in language courses which will improve their fluency in using foreign languages. It will also improve their knowledge of culture and customs of different countries. While staying in a foreign country they will be forced to use a foreign language in everyday situations. It is going to strongly increase their confidence in using foreign languages for communication purposes. Additionally, it will reduce the fear about using a foreign language during contacts with foreigners in the future. The fact that the teachers will be more fluent in speaking foreign languages will be valuable both during everyday contacts with foreign students who study in the school and during the planned international cooperation. What is more, it will help to prepare promotional materials and the school website translated into different foreign languages. On the whole, being in the project will help the teachers to make the students more tolerant to other cultures ant curious about the world. As a result they will become more aware of opportunities created because the EU membership and will be able to fully use those opportunities. It will help them to become better EU citizens. The teachers will also take part in ITC courses. IT will help them to further develop their ITC skills. They will explore different ways of using technology in various projects. The course will help the teachers to reflect on their approach to teaching today’s students and integrating technology in their teaching. It will motivate both the teachers and their students. As a result they will be able to use the latest ITC equipment obtained by the school during the project “Malopolska Chmura Edukacyjna”. The cultural courses will enable the teachers to learn and better understand culture and customs of various countries. It will help to start international cooperation with foreign schools as one of the school’s objectives is promoting national customs traditions and culture abroad. It will also help to show the students the variety of European national traditions Ten most motivated teachers were chosen to take part in this project. They will take an active part in realization of the new vision of the school and help to start the international cooperation with foreign schools. They will share the knowledge they obtained during the courses with the rest of the staff. They teach various subjects: English, Polish, Biology, medical subjects, Chemistry, ITC and professional subjects for hotel workers and a school psychologist. Among them there are the teachers responsible for the school website and the school drama club. They have everyday contacts with the foreign students who study at the school and their parents. As a long term effect it is planned to realize the new vision of the school – the modern European school with tradition. The teachers will be able to train students who are motivated, inquisitive, tolerant , interested in other cultures, the fully aware how to live in “the world without borders” created in the EU.
