The project called New Methods for Improvements in Teaching and Motivation aims at the usage of new methods in English language teaching. The goal of the project is to train English language teachers in new methods by participating in methodology courses. Subsequently these methods should be used in lessons. It is expected that new methods will lead to an increased interest of the students towards English lessons thus contributing to better results at school leaving exams, language exams and entrance exams at universities in the Czech Republic as well as abroad. Last but not least the project should lead to an increase in school intake and boost chances of its graduates in employment market. The project team consists of six people - the headmaster, the accountant and four teachers of English who will take part in mobility in Great Britain. The teachers have long working experience at our school. The courses in methodology deal with increasing motivation technics, interactive communication method, creative writing, teaching in mixed ability classes, effective usage of textbooks, development of oral fluency and using new technologies. The courses also focus on a variety of motivating activities which engage students’ imaginations and creativity. To get acquainted with the style of teaching at British secondary schools the courses offer day visits at local secondary schools. The project starts in December 2016. The mobility will take place in 2017 and during the next school year the new methods will be incorporated in all lessons.Eventually workshops for teachers from our school as well as from our town will disseminate the project. Contributions to a local media will spread the outcomes of the mobility also among the public. In the long run the project should improve the school image and overall performance of students in English.
