Night of the Living: Interaction, Inclusion, Invention & Innovation (4i) (RN11:4i)

This proposal continues the successful work in promoting researchers´ interaction with the citizens in southern Finland in three cities, and adds a new participant and the region to the consortium. The coordinator remains the same (KyUAS) but the city where to arrange the event, is also new (Kotka instead of Kouvola). The focus is on multidisciplinary research combining technology, design and commercialisation. The leading concept idea is innovation, interaction, inclusion, invention (4i), and knowledge transfer. The official consortium consists of three universities of applied sciences that combine higher education and research institutions of their regions into common work to meet objectives of the Researchers´ Night.The regions will plan their activities according to the regions´ special features. European visibility and consortium´s focal points are to be taken into action planning. Event will consist of several types of activities: interaction with citizens in shopping centres, in campuses, schools etc. The event will reach all age groups. Young people are in our special interest. The awareness campaign will use traditional media (tv, radio, press, posters, internet, printed material etc) and social media as well. Presentations, European Union stand, competitions, workshops, childrens´ happenings, science cafes, open academic libraries, films, studia generalia, poster exhibitions, and cultural happenings are the tools in meeting citizens. Events take place in public places as well as in campuses. Results will be analysed thoroughly with the data of recent years to keep contact figures high and improve. The length of activities is 7 moths. The value of the project is EUR 79,141.29 and the requested EC contribution is EUR 60,000..
