The digital revolution urges cultural institutions to find an appropriate response to the plethora of new media, new means of display and art forms but also to the new possibilities of communication and interaction with the public. New Media, Performing Arts & Spectatorship is set up by 10 European organisations to bring recent scientific and artistic new media explorations closer to European audiences.10 partners join forces to- exchange experiences & views on the use of new media in contemporary arts practice - generate reflection on the influence of new scientific media developments on artistic creation & spectatorship- develop strategies to communicate these newest developments to their audiences across Europe & to share ground-breaking artistic work with them- build long term cross-border working relationships for continued exchange & collaborationTo reach these goals, they will- organise professional workshops by artists & scientists - enable artistic research residencies - organise public presentations of the multi-disciplinary, large scale art project Immercity - offer possibilities to art students & volunteers to be directly involved with artistic practice- organise public seminars on New Media, Arts & Spectatorship- disseminate results with the use of website, DVD & publication- organise meetings for all partners to steer implementation, ongoing evaluation of the project & planning continued collaborationThe central motor of the project are the presentations of Immercity in 9 European cities. It is a performative installation, using the newest technological media and evoking our contemporary networked here-and-now. It is created by CREW, a company of artists and scientists. Their cross-border collaboration allows all partners to strengthen and enrich their individual capacities and to build sturdy foundations for continued co-operation in the years to come.
