Neighbourhood Youth Project 2
Start date: Jul 1, 2011,

The theme of this exchange is Immigration, Interculturalism and education/training and the project aims to bring together young people aged 17-20 from two projects who work with young people at risk from socially deprived areas to explore these issues using sport, drama, workshops and discussions. Both sets of young people will include a large number of immigrants and so the themes for the project will be of huge relevance to all participants. While the two projects involved are German and Irish and the majority of the participants will be from those countries there will also be young people from countries such as Poland, Latvia, Romania, Nigeria, South Africa, Vietnam, Turkey, Russia, etc. Again given the world wide economic recession the the issues of immigation and education/training will be key issues for all of the young people as will the need for greater intercultural awareness and development. The venue will be in the Cavan Centre, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan. The project will last for eight days and there will be ten young people and three staff from each group. The programme activities will include warm-up exercises, creative games, workshops, role-plays and discussions. Given the location for the exchange full use will be made of the centre's activities such as football, swimming, rope-climbing, canoeing , hill walking etc, for team building and get-to-know-you exercises and there will be also opportunities for some sightseeing and visits to relevant social projects during the Dublin visit . The promotion of the EVS as a valid and valuable progression option for young people will also be a key part of the project. Youthpass will be used during the exchange.
