The suggested program is entitled ''OPEN AND DISTANCE EDUCATION'' and it will be implemented between January and December in the year 2015. The objective of the proposal is to contribute to the training of 28 Technology Teachers in alternative, flexible systems of education, with a special focus on the design and development of online classes. The participants are Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic and Civil Engineers who are graduated of ASETEM/SELETE and teach at various Vocational Lyceum from all over Greece. The expected acquisition and further improvement of existing skills, pertaining to the use of innovative online and e-learning teaching methods is of utmost importance, as modern educational tools. The European Commission initiated on 25.09.2013 the “Opening Up Education initiative” to help develop new teaching methods that rely on digital technologies. The opening of the Education Initiative has been mentored by Commissioners AdroulaVasiliou and Nellie Kroes and centered on tree areas. 1. The creation of opportunities for institutions, teachers and trainers to engage in and master innovation. 2. The increase in the use of Open Education Resources (OER) by dictating that educational material that has been produced with the support of public fund are freely accessible by everybody. 3. The improvement of infrastructure of ICT. The current proposal is part of the Association of Technology Teachers continual efforts to expose its members to the most recent advances at the Education-Technology frontier. In order to achieve this objective, the Association has selected τ the company VITECO-Srl from Italy and the company Webwise Lda from Portugal, as the providers of its training program. The Training Organizations which will undertake the training courses is among the most qualified in the use of new tech educational tools, for the digital classroom, in the e-Learning and generally in the new technologies used in both education and training. The incorporation of ICTs, distance learning and the use of digital tools in the classroom constitute key ingredients of the modern teaching of technology. They allow for greater class interactive, immediate, affective feedback and the catering of knowledge to individual needs and tasks. The participants in the training program are expected to acquired the tools that will allow them to take full advantage of recent technology and developments in education. These tools are expected to enrich traditional teaching by allowing for • Instantaneous evaluation of learning • Individualize learning • The use of e-learning platform • The bilateral and multilateral video conferencing • Effective use of internal based tools. Complementary, the project will contribute to the cultural and language development of the skills of each participant by staying in a foreign country with a different culture and customs.
