Nauka i sport pod gołym niebem - kreatywne metody pracy z dzieckiem w kontakcie z naturą.

Our action is supposed to serve the broad idea of health prevention, according to the saying: “It is better to prevent something than to cure it”. The project “Sport and education outdoors- creative methods of working with children in contact with nature” prepared by Kindergarten Number 1 is going to support the realization of these assumptions. The project refers to children, parents and teaching staff of our kindergarten.
The assignments and aims of the project
Children commune with nature during their activities
•using nature as an educational environment: botanic garden, forest, garden
•the development of creative attitude that stimulates imagination and artistic expression during classes in the open air
•organizing outdoor trips
•joy of outdoor exercise and cooperation- a sense of community;
Children’s sports and cognitive activity outdoors
•the enrichment of children’s psychomotor experiences in contact with nature
• the reinforcement of children’s physical strength
•building up children’s natural body resistance
•the consolidation of sports habits
arousing children’s conviction that sport and games involving physical movement constitute a perfect way to spend time both in kindergarten and with their parents;
Parents’ awareness and their involvement in the realization of the project in free time
• making parents aware of the significance of outdoor cognitive activities and games involving physical movement for children’s health. Encouraging them to support the kindergarten’s actions.
•the presentation of various forms of outdoor games that allow spending quality time and gaining some practical knowledge
•overcoming parents’ anxieties concerning going out with children in different seasons of the year, especially in late autumn, winter and early summer;
Arousing interest concerning sport
•establishing cooperation with the nearby sports clubs
•organizing sports competitions for children from several kindergartens;
Healthy diet for children
•healthy afternoon snacks- putting the emphasis on eating fruit and vegetables, restricting sweets consumption.
The project is going to be carried out from VIII '14 to IX '15.
All of the kindergarten’s teachers, 9 members of the staff, 125 children and their parents are going to participate in the realization of the project.
Preparatory stage
•defining the kindergarten’s individual needs- conducting systematic actions aimed at obesity prevention through sport and various activities in contact with nature.
•defining the way to achieve the main goal- using natural environment, because nature is a factor that particularly favours children’s comprehensive development- concerning both somatic and psychological sphere.
•setting the tasks, aims and ways of their realization taking into consideration specific needs.
•establishing cooperation with specific centres in Iceland that help to improve skills with reference to physical, cognitive and recreational activity.
The beginning of the project
•participation in courses that present innovative and creative methods and forms of physical exercise and outdoor activity.
•self-improvement, the enrichment of individual skills, learning practical solutions applied in EU, participation in a course in Iceland.
•establishing cooperation with sports clubs.
•preparations for initiating the education outside the class.
Introducing the project
•changes in the menu-promotion of healthy diet.
•ystematic realization of the project’s tasks.
•monitoring the realization of the project’s aims (questionnaire for parents and teachers, testing card for outdoor classes).
•popularization of the project in the local community- family picnics, trips, sports competitions for children, open classes for parents, conference for teachers.
•Propagation by means of ICT.
Methodology
Methods concerning the development of physical fitness: developing exercises, station method and team games and the initiation of cognitive and creative activity outdoors: independent experiences, appointed tasks, comparative observation, experiments, practical tasks.
Results
•the project is a form of enrichment of the teachers’ skills. Well-trained teaching staff is going to constitute a good basis for creative teaching and inspiring parents with reference to attractive forms of spending their free time outdoors.
•ur actions are supposed to set a good example of spending time in the family circle.
•spending more time outdoors is going to: influence the increase in children’s physical fitness, have a stimulating effect on their immune system, arouse interest and appreciation for the natural environment.
•change of dietary habits.
Our long-term goal is to instil a habit of active and creative way of spending free time in contact with nature in parents and their children. Enjoying the physical exercise and gaining some knowledge outdoors is supposed to become a wonderful alternative to sedentary lifestyle either in front of the computer or tv. It is going constitute an effect
