Klaipėda visual development centre (Klaipėdos regos ugdymo centras) is the only institution providing educational assistance for blind and visual impaired people in Klaipėda. Pedagogues and leaders seek high-quality of service. Participation in the project "New educational ideas - the way to quality" („Naujos ugdymo idėjos – kelias į kokybę“) professionals will offer innovative Dutch blind and visually impaired children educational experiences that affect the service, professionalism and quality. The main objective of the project is oriented in to these criteria - to raise teachers, who work with blind and visually impaired children, professional competence and improve their quality of service, introduction of new and advanced teaching tools and methodologies. This objective result is expected to increase a typhlopedagogue (visiting teachers) and other professionals who provide to blind and visually impaired children the educational services, confidence and job satisfaction, to make their service an even more efficient and accessible to visually impaired people, and reducing their social exclusion. We hope that pedagogues will be able to customise that knowledge and skills in professional and personal life areas. In order to achieve the project objective 11 pedagogues who are working with the blind and visually impaired students from Klaipeda visual development centre in 7-day visit to the Netherlands, will have the opportunity to visit various schools, which educated blind and visually impaired students, and also to see the specifics of the foreign partners working in different schools. Lithuanian pedagogues will have the opportunity to learn how typhlopedagogues (visiting teachers) work is organised; how environment is customizable to the needs of the blind students; about advanced teaching tools and methodologies; how is cooperating with family; about work planning; discussions with teachers, visually impaired students and their parents. Practical activities will use different methods of operation: work in groups and subgroups, simulations, discussions, debates, observations, questionnaires, reflection and so on. In order to ensure proper management of the project, Royal Dutch Visio Organization and Visual development centre will discuss about details of the visit and will provide arrangements and responsibilities. Throughout the project will focus on the participants’ active involvement in the work and the responsibility for their development process. The aim will be that the project would be based on practical experience. To ensure the activity and involvement of participants it will be conducted reflection and questioning with the commitments of realization. The project gained experience provides not only discuss, draw conclusions, but also to implement in practice and spread in different ways: in the press, seminars, methodological workshops, training, web-portals.
