A cooperation initiative focusing on forest management, bureaucracy and information aspects of managing broad leave forests under the Natura 2000 directives. The aim of this project is to set up a platform for future cooperation and to build a mature project idea to apply within the new EU-programme period.A first meeting in Sweden is planned for November 2013. In spring 2014 the second meeting will take place in Žemaitija national park. Expected Results: Expected outputs and resultsBelow are examples of potential benefits from participating in international Natura 2000 exchange:• Increased knowledge in forest management of protected areas;• extended contacts and strengthened understanding of the requirements of different stakeholders;• new management tools on how to manage protected areas effectively;• increased communication/information activities to the general public;• increased knowledge on how to solve conflicts; • study tours;• good examples/best practise reports;• Natura 2000 model forest areas;• Conceptual documents on alternative forest management methods;• Joint transnational strategies and tools for management and implementation of Natura 2000 sites
