Nature and Sustainability for Youth
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Learning through outdoor activities is a powerful tool, and being outside is the best place to create awareness about nature and sustainability. We believe that nature is important in people's lives, in order to make it possible for us and our children to still be able to enjoy the nature and environment in our world we think we have to create more awareness about the need to preserve nature. More and more organizations try to have impact in this field. We think we can achieve more when we share our best practices and inspire those people that will have most influence in the future: the youth! The goal of this 'Nature and Sustainability' Exchange is to create, with 6 partner organizations. the space where participating youth can share their experiences, learn from each others culture, become aware and share thoughts around the topic nature and sustainability. It also promotes European cooperation in the youth work field by building strong connections between the participating organizations and youth which might lead to more exchange of knowledge and people in the future. All the participating organizations will also provide workshops and activities on their best practices. The project is hosted by Buitendoor from the Netherlands and will take place from the 17th till the 25th of July (excluding travel days) at the campsite of Buitendoor, Landgoed 'Welna' in Nunspeet. 28 participants and 7 group leaders, aged 16-30 years old from 7 different countries. During the week we gather as much as possible of the shared information and knowledge. This can be shared freely with all people interested in this topic. With the output they are going to design tools to bring home and write a blog which we will post on a created website and share with social media. With this blog we create awareness in a wider range and it goes on after the project. The participants also get the opportunity to test their tools in small projects in the local area.
