Music is an excellent communication tool that overcomes cultural barriers with its own language, understandable for everybody. It offers youth the opportunity to meet on a common place and intercultural exchange. The project "Musical key experiences Germany - Czech Republic. For competence and excellence development of children, youth and students with the participation of refugees" is a joint project of the Bavarian Philharmonic (Munich) and the Základní umělecká škola Liberec.A unique innovation of this project is to strengthen the awareness of the neighborhood history (Germany-Czech Republic) with a view to current refugee issues. The active involvement of refugees in the project is an educational and artistic innovation that brings important experience and learning processes for all participants. That intercultural dialogue and transnational mobility in conjunction with solidarity is an important goal of our project partner ZUŠ Liberec, showing enthusiasm for the participation of migrants. While there are obvious reservations for the integration of refugees in the Czech population, the ZUŠ Liberec and their director Tomas Kolafa want to put a recognizable sign of integration and European solidarity.Between October 27 and November 1st will take a common learning and exchange phase of youth and young students from Germany and the Czech Republic as well as refugees from Mediterranean countries. This exchange is focused includes musical works from the European (especially German and Czech) and Arab culture. Open work phases and public presentations take place in various locations in the Czech Republic. Thereby the projects offers different forms of participation for the population. The project is expected to be supported by the German-Czech Future Fund and Goethe Institute (Tandem). The long-standing tradition and experience of the Bavarian Philharmonic in cultural education and intercultural projects and the particular focus of Základní umělecká škola Liberec (on cultural exchange / participation / imparting skills) are the basis for a new big step in the development of an successfully established intercultural project (since 2002) between the two above-mentioned European countries. From the very beginning was the great joint project both in Czech Republic and Germany the main objective of the cooperation. Both partner built up this co-operation successfully and sustainable with smaller joint projects. During the last years from Germany 15-20 persons took place in programs in Czech Republic. A special honor for Bavarian Philharmonic was the invitation to Liberec in 2015 to take place in the 90th anniversary of the Základní umělecká škola Liberec. The participants will receive and learn a sensitisation and strengthening of their knowledge for democratic values and dialogue in the society. Especially between Germany and the Czech Republic, where there is at school level (both in Germany and Czech Republic) mostly only rudimentary language teaching, is such a confidence-building program important. The participants will learn that beyond boundaries – i.e. internationally – they can use their knowledge for professional life. Young people will enhance and learn for their personal and professional development. We want rise the interest in being part of creating the future of the EU and develop a solidarity beyond boundaries. The refugee issue offers us a very singular opportunity. The following competences are in our focus:- Strengthen the willingness of competence and play an active role in society and environment- To welcome people and integrate them actively- Extending of abilities of non formal knowledge/music education : support creativity , reflection, critics and discussion and others- Ability to contact and network with others focusing future professional chances- Positive attitude towards integration and equal chances- Access to informal learning- Contact and network participation for participants with regard to future activities / career opportunities in the neighbouring country as well as in the European UnionIn this project there will be 60 participants from Germany and the Czech Republic which are predominantly adolescent and young adults.
